How extensions work
- Your first ED Visa stamp gives you 90 days.
- You then extend at Immigration in stages. The first extension is usually about 1 month; later extensions are usually about 2 months, following your Ministry of Education letter.
- Each extension costs 1,900 THB, paid directly to the Immigration officer.
- We prepare your extension documents and tell you when they are ready to collect.
Extend on time. Go to Immigration before your current permission to stay ends. If you are late, you may receive only a 30-day extension, or 7 days to leave Thailand.
The exact length of each extension is decided by Immigration. See the full program timeline on our Student Visa Info page.

After your extension
- Check your stamp. Make sure the new end date is correct before you leave the office.
- 90-day report is separate. An extension is not a 90-day report. Check the small white slip for your next 90-day date. How 90-day reporting works

Questions students ask
When should I go to Immigration?
As soon as we tell you your documents are ready, and always before your current permission to stay ends. Please do not wait until the last day.
How long will I get?
The first extension is usually about 1 month, and later ones about 2 months. Immigration decides the exact length, following your Ministry of Education letter.
Can I do it online?
No. ED Visa extensions cannot be done online. Please apply in person at Chaeng Watthana Immigration, following the steps above.
What if I miss my extension date?
Contact our admin team straight away. If you are late, Immigration may give only a short extension or ask you to leave Thailand, and any overstay can affect your future visas.
