Police Clearance Certificate: how to apply in Bangkok

Please note: the certificate is issued only by the Royal Thai Police. Their office, counters, fees and processing times can change, so please follow the officers' instructions on the day.

Do you need one?

Not every student needs a police clearance. It depends on your nationality and situation. When you register, our team checks this for you.

  • If you are already in Thailand: you apply for a Thai police clearance in Bangkok, following the steps on this page. We give you the school letter you need.
  • If you are overseas and applying for an ED e-Visa with us: only for the countries we have informed you require it, you will need a Police Clearance from your own country.
Valid for 90 days. The application and fingerprinting must be done by you, in person. Collecting the certificate can be done by our staff with your authorisation.

Questions students ask

How long does it take?
Your visit usually takes 1 to 2 hours. The certificate is normally ready in about 7–15 working days; the exact date is on your appointment slip.
Can someone else collect it for me?
Yes. Our staff can collect it with your authorisation. The police ask for a power of attorney, a copy of your passport, a copy of the collector's ID or passport, and a 10 THB revenue stamp. Bring us the original receipt and appointment slip, and we will prepare the paperwork with you.
I lost my receipt. What now?
Contact our admin team as soon as possible. Collection is much harder without the original receipt, so please keep it with your passport.
Can I go on a weekend?
No. The center is open on weekdays only, and is closed on Thai public holidays. Arrive before 4:00 PM.
Where does this fit in my ED Visa steps?
See the full timeline on our Student Visa Info page.
