ED Visa Cancellation

For ED Visa students finishing or stopping their studies

ED Visa cancellation: closing your student visa the right way

Your ED Visa is linked to your enrolment with us. When you finish your program, stop studying or change to another school, your student status must be closed at Immigration. You get a cancellation stamp in your passport that shows the date you must leave Thailand.

Please note: the cancellation must be done in person at the Immigration Office that granted your current extension. It cannot be done online or at the airport. Immigration decides how many days you get to leave Thailand.

When you need to cancel

🎓 You finish your program

Cancel near the end of your last permission of stay, before you fly home.

✋ You stop studying early

If you stop attending classes, your ED Visa must be cancelled. You cannot stay on an ED Visa without studying.

🏫 You change school or visa

An ED Visa cannot be moved to another school. Cancel it, leave Thailand, then apply again with the new school.

Tell us your travel plan early, so we can put the correct end date on your letter.

Why cancellation matters

Do not leave Thailand without the cancellation stamp. If you leave without it, your ED Visa stays active in the Immigration system. This can be recorded as an overstay and can cause problems with your future Thai visa applications.
  • You must leave Thailand by the date on your cancellation stamp. Staying longer is an overstay.
  • A clean record makes it easier to come back later, for a new ED Visa or any other visa.

Questions students ask

Can I cancel my ED Visa at the airport?
No. The cancellation is done at the Immigration Office that granted your current extension, before you go to the airport.
How many days do I get to leave after cancelling?
It depends on Immigration and the date on your school letter. The exact date is on your cancellation stamp. Plan your flight with our team so the dates match.
I want to study at another school. Can I move my ED Visa?
No. An ED Visa cannot be transferred inside Thailand. You cancel it with our letter, leave Thailand, and apply for a new ED Visa with the new school.
Can I come back to study with you again later?
Of course. Contact our team, register for your new program and apply for a new ED Visa. See our Student Visa Info.
