Bangkok had a very loud week. The Weeknd brought his After Hours Til Dawn Tour to Rajamangala National Stadium for three nights, 11, 12 and 13 October 2026. The Bangkok run started as one show, and a third night was added because so many fans wanted tickets.
Big concerts like this are a lot of fun. They are also a surprisingly good English lesson. Think about it: thousands of people singing in English, chatting with strangers in the queue, posting on social media and reading signs at the stadium. Let's look at how you can turn concert season into real language practice.
A quick look at the tour
Here are a few facts about the tour that came to Bangkok:
- The After Hours Til Dawn Tour began in July 2022 in Philadelphia, USA.
- It celebrates three albums: After Hours, Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow.
- The Asia shows in 2026 were announced as the final leg of the tour, with stops in Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
- By late 2025 it had earned more than one billion US dollars, the highest grossing tour ever by a male solo artist.
- The opening act on the Asia leg is Creepy Nuts from Japan.
The Weeknd is a Canadian singer, and his songs are full of everyday English that learners can use.
Why music helps you learn English
Songs repeat the same words again and again, so they stick in your memory. They also teach you rhythm, linking sounds and natural pronunciation. When you sing along, you are doing speaking practice without feeling nervous.
Many native speakers sing quickly and join words together. "Want to" becomes "wanna". "Going to" becomes "gonna". "I don't know" can sound like "I dunno". Hearing these sounds in songs makes real conversations much easier to understand.

Useful English for concert night
Before the show
- "Which gate are you going in?" A friendly way to start a chat in the queue.
- "Where are you sitting?" or "Which zone are you in?"
- "I can't believe we got tickets!" Perfect when the show sold out fast.
- "Is this the line for merch?" Merch means official shirts, posters and souvenirs.
During the show
- "This is my favourite song!"
- "The vibe is amazing." "Vibe" means the feeling or atmosphere.
- "He's going to play an encore." An encore is the extra song at the end.
- "My voice is gone!" What you say after singing all night.
After the show
- "That was unreal." Native speakers use this when something is incredibly good.
- "Best night ever!" Short, happy and very natural.
- "Let's grab something to eat before we head home."
A little Thai for the stadium, too
If you live in Bangkok, you will hear lots of Thai around you at a big show. Here are a few easy phrases:
- สนุกมาก (sà-nùk mâak): So much fun!
- เพลงนี้เพราะมาก (pleeng níi prɔ́ mâak): This song sounds beautiful.
- ไปราชมังยังไง (pai râat-chá-mang yang-ngai): How do I get to Rajamangala Stadium?
- คนเยอะมาก (kon yə́ mâak): There are so many people!
Add ครับ (kráp) or ค่ะ (kâ) at the end to sound polite.
How to study English with your favourite songs

You don't need a concert ticket to learn this way. Try this simple routine at home:
- Listen first. Play the song once without reading anything. What words can you catch?
- Read along. Look up the official lyrics on a licensed music app and follow them while you listen.
- Pick five new words. Write them in a notebook with your own example sentence.
- Shadow the singer. Sing one line at a time and copy the rhythm and linking sounds.
- Talk about it. Tell a friend or classmate in English why you like the song.
Ten minutes a day is enough. It is small, fun and easy to keep doing.
